Destination : Himgiri Nature Retreat ResortOur unique Independence Day celebration ,15 Aug 2014 swept towards an adventurous trip. Like many, we plodded towards mountains, it was like carnival on road.Every route packed ; a journey which was supposed to take 5hrs but had ruffly summed up to 14hrs coz of the traffic. This is one of my unique experiences i wish to share as a traveller. Our destination was Himgiri Nature Retreat resort located in the heart of Sirmour district, HP. It was 60km away from Solan and 33 km from Rajgarh. It was 9:00pm when we reached Solan and in night , no street lights in mountains , only dwindling narrow roads. We had a big 35- seater bus with that massive width traversing those narrow curves wasn't less than a challenge. The bus driver was not an expert driver and we all were tired of such an unexpected lengthy journey . We were damn scared at the sharp turns the bus made . Each turn was either nearing a big rock boulder or the tires just caressed the rim of deep valleys. Either way it was like we committed biggest mistake risking our lives. What made our journey worse was rain and thundering, the weather was going worser , slippery roads and rest horror ; all are aware of. Aghast State:Peeping out of window , the receptors, in my eyes could only identify the distant lights ,rest all was pitch dark. Whenever the lightening struck, the frightening scene from a horror movie picturesque the scape.Just like in vintage movies .The lightning lit up the grim road and dark valleys looked like gates to hell.We all were literally chanting and praying for safe return.Collectively we were instructing the driver left right left right as we neared the boulders on sharp turns or the valley edges. It was a horrifying moment when the whole trip had turned into a ghastly situation. At 10:45 pm we had a Scorpio that escorted us to our resort, the sight of that scorpio was a big relief after those strained 4hrs. As soon as we reached; the place, was wet and mist blinded us.In mountains rains , mist and fog are common. The owner was a retired Army General they served us hot soup.It was delight to finally get something to eat. After good food i wanted to explore the beauty of the place , it looked very serene. TranquilityWe retired to our rooms . We were given room in Attic and it was the most beautiful room.Wooden roof and flooring was so warm to eye, soothing colours to add a tinge of vibrance , the room had orange curtains, red upholstery and all the warm earthy colours blended , soothing my mind and eyes. I am a nature lover and an artist very close to earthy tones. Next morning i woke up around 7:30 am the sun was shinning and lush greens stretches welcomed my beautiful morning in the mountains.Fresh chilled air kissed me and ohhh how fresh i felt.No pollution , no clutter this was a perfect break. The aghast situation had now turned into a tranquil aura.
